SARGE #256, 1.5 y, 42#, deaf male started his journey with his rescue Mom Lisa who met driver Karla N at a truckstop in Denton. Karla was to doggy sit until driver Nancy R could arrive. As it turned out, Nancy arrived sooner than expected and got to meet Lisa as well. Sarge is at home at Rainbow Ranch Pet Retirement home with Heather and Theresa.

Here We Grow Again! -- Monday March 31st, 2008
Then came Sarge - we had been waiting some time for Sarge. He is an Aussie (cattle dog) who is congenitally deaf. Sarge has been taught some hand signs and is doing fine here. The funny thing about him is his tail chasing. Sadly though, it is our opinion that Sarge suffers something else on top of his deafness. When stressed, he responds with almost violent tail chasing. There may be some brain disconnect but his behavior is ok here and with a bit of supervision, Sarge shows no threat to the smaller dogs or to the bigger dogs when he starts his tail chasing! Sarge is only a year old so he may be adoptable once we get his training completed. Sarge comes to us from Operation Roger!
