#184 RYAN (Springer Spaniel X) Kellyville, OK - Iron Mountain, MI

RYAN #184, a 9 week old Springer Spaniel-Irish Setter Mix, Male has finally made it to his new home. Ryan, renamed Hitch because he was hitchhiking his way home, began his journey in Sulpulpa, OK, with his foster Mom. Rescuer Carol L brought them both to a truck stop in Tulsa, OK, to meet driver Sue W.

Hitch rode with Sue and her small companion, Louie, all the way to Bethlehem, PA, then back west to Columbus, OH, then north to Wheeling, IL. Unable to get any closer to Iron Mountain, they started back east toward PA again.

In stepped driver Candy G and her three little companions, Terra, Tess, and Doc, to take over in Spiceland, IN. Hitch then went to Kansas City, KS, and back up into Chicago, IL, before making it on up to Manitowoc, WI, where he was met by his new adoptive "Mom" Nichole S who, along with a friend, had driven down from Iron Mountain. Once again it took two drivers and the help of the adoptive Mom to get a rescued pet to a loving home.
Hitch was a sweety, so soft, playful. Sue reports he loved to lay his head on her feet while she sat on the bunk and gently, quietly, untie her shoe laces before she knew what he was doing.

Candy's three didn't quite approve of this interloper but did eventually warm up enough to play. Candy has been with Operation Roger for a little over a year, serving most of that time as a board member and team leader. This was her first transport. Thanks, Candy, for hanging in there and waiting for just the right moment to make a definite difference in a pet's life.
