#156 MESHA (Toy Poodle) Monroe, NC to Barre, MA MESHA #156, a 22 month old, 7 pound, female Toy Poodle from Monroe, NC, to Barre, MA, is now at home. Team drivers Bruce and Sheri T drove their personal vehicle to Monroe to pick Mesha up from Barbra at the Humane Society of Union County and back home again in order to get her to Barre. Then an emergency struck. Sheri's father suffered a medical emergency and the team was rerouted to UT... with Mesha on board. Hurried telephone calls to all parties involved in this transport resulted in Mesha seeing a bit of the country before being routed to her original destination in Barre, MA, and her new "Mom" Diane S. Date: Sat, Aug 04, 2007 7:08 pm To: operationroger@operationroger.com Hi just wanted to say hello again and let you all know that Mesha the little Poodle that you all helped get home to me is doing wonderful. She truly is a goodwill ambassador. Awhile back she made our town newspaper , being the friendly pup, and,... 2 weeks ago, she and I returned from a girl's summer camp after being the camp nurse and Mesha the ever watchful Angel. Sick and frightened children were comforted by this "furchild". She would snuggle up to children in the camp infirmary and had a soothing calmness to all that she encountered. We stayed for 3 plus weeks and this wee one greeted everyone with such a loving kindness. Even those who were afraid of dogs eventually were won over my Mesha's gentle spirit. She met at least 200 people during our stay and was such a wonderful presence to those that shared her tenderness. There are no words to express my gratitude to all of you that helped bring her into my life for she is such a good girl that made so many children happy. Most of these kids were from Harlem and other places that really do not provide the freedom to simply be and enjoy the sweetness of life. These children were poor and disadvantaged that otherwise would never be able to afford a camp experience. Because there are caring people in this world opportunities were there so that these kids could have some fun. Mesha was right there in the midst of childhood innocence and again I just want to say thank you to all the Angels that are right here on earth. Without you dear people Mesha would not be what she has been,: truly a "goodwill ambassador". Thank you to one and all and a big thanks to Bruce and Sheri, team drivers who answered my prayers nearly a year ago. A very special heartfelt appreciation to Bruce and Sherry, team drivers, and a sweet couple, who took care of Mesha as their own. They went beyond my expectations in what they so lovingly did to help heal my wounded heart and give Mesha a home where she is part of a family that will love her for whatever time that one shares upon this Earth.... A year ago last August, with a heavy heart, it was necessary to put to rest my 16 year old Bichon, "Bobo". that was a beloved companion. since a pup. He was going into kidney failure and nothing more could be done. My hands were upon his body, my eyes held his in a gaze of goodbye., and as his last breath was drawn ,he lay in my arms. It took a long while to really celebrate his life as the loss was tremendous. Six months after losing "Bobo" , a neglected Poodle named "Snuffy" came into my life., and made me realize that I could love again with this gentle baby. Life was wonderful and the zip was back in my stride and inner being. Four months passed and in a moment the pickup came too close and killed this "furchild" as he walked beside me on a leash. There wasn't any reason for this senseless accident and the tears flowed days upon days........ Time passed , but, it was like having an open wound that simply would not heal... I blamed myself despite knowing it was a tragic accident...... One day I found myself still searching and looking at homeless pets and felt that it would be a BLESSING to honor a tragedy in giving a home to a pet in need. Thus, with time's passage and countless hours seeking came Mesha, A Poodle who was surrendered to a shelter after the owner wanted to travel, casting a baby aside. A foster mom who worked at the shelter took Mesha home and loved her enough to allow me to adopt so she could take another wayward doggie in to care for.(Mesha was with this foster mom for about 3 weeks). We corresponded and got the necessary paperwork, references and application completed. Then the obstacle arose in how does Mesha get home. My heart believed firmly in,..... where there is a will there is a way..... Barbara, the foster mom , gave me the acceptance of Mesha being mine and generous time to make arrangements to transport. Flying would have been hard as Mesha would have needed medication , thus ground transport seemed the best means. SO, ........ Operation Rodger came literally to the rescue and answered my prayers with some Angels known and unknown to me. )For those unknown who helped get Mesha to me , PLEASE, let me thank you humbly from deeply within. For those I have emailed or spoken with, like wise. Thank you. Again a SPECIAL THANK YOU to Bruce and Sherry that went out of their way in picking up Mesha in North Carolina in a personal vehicle driving about 150 miles roundtrip before even beginning the journey. Mesha was supposed to be heading from NC here to Massachusetts. but, a medical problem with a family member of Sherry's arose and a detour became necessary. So, Bruce, Sherry and Mesha turned back and headed to Utah. All had been on the road for better than 2 weeks together., and there was caring and kind updates of everyone's progress. Through prayers and time passing we all finally had a time to meet, which was a Sunday night. Needless to say it truly seemed bittersweet. There seemed many mixed emotions. I was so happy to see Mesha yet sad to take Mesha from her home of 2 plus weeks as there was not any doubt that Mesha shared a loving bond with these 2 people a short time ago merely strangers.. I then realized that more was gained than lost and now there is a bond between all of us that will not be affected by anything short of loving appreciation. Those once strangers,........ now friends,............ always welcomed in our home. Just think! , Sue started such a wonderful thing that is a gift to one and all. In her loss of Roger she has opened her heart and given so much joy to people she may never know, but, certainly wish her BLESSINGS and LOVING KINDNESS. There are Angels amongst us and I am so BLESSED to have received so much from so many of you. God Bless all of you who make this possible. I will look at you truckers as you travel the roads and endless miles wondering about the precious cargo you deliver. THere are no words at all that can even begin to exspress the pure joy of having shared a moment of embrace with Sherry and Bruce, other than wish there had been time to spend together. Hello to one and all. Just wanted to say a quick hello. Mesha is still being the sweet little pup who truly loves others especially little children. Yesterday, we got back from a 4 day overnight Boy Scout volunteer mission and although grateful to be back home and rolling around in her own bed she behaved wonderfully. Again, really need to say a big THANK YOU to you folks that drive for the cause . I have a companion that is truly cherished not only by myself, but, by others. She is a spirit of giving unto others, and is well loved. Many thanks to all of you that have made her part of my life. May your journeys be safe as you drive and travel in those big rigs that bring the small packages into our lives.When you are far away know that you are close at heart in gratitude and appreciation by those you have helped along the way.
