Animal Success Stories
Success Stories
Operation Roger has had many happy endings from all the transports we have done. If you have a success story to tell us about a pet we have helped, please send an Email to operationroger01@yahoo.com and include a photo-we would love to share it with our visitors!
The latest completed transport stories are found under Information/Success Stories. We will add the update on the pet in red below our story. The stories found here are listed by the latest completed transport number at top. If you know your pets transport number, you may quickly find it in this manner. All of these stories will eventually be segmented into groups of about twenty.
This particular section you are reading now, located under Animals/Success Stories, lists the stories by the pet's transported alphabetical name. However, within the confines of each letter, the names may not be alphabetical. Confused? Don't worry. Scroll around and you will be able to locate your pet eventually. Sorry, but this is the result of the program, not us. If the pet’s name was changed enroute or at a later date, it will not show under the new name.
If you remember the approximate date of the transport and can't find your pet's story, Email us that information and transport name. We will endeavor to find the story for you.
We are always striving to improve our website. We hope you like what you see.

ALPHIE #240 *
#240 ALPHIE (Beagle X) Warsaw, MO - Grand Forks, ND *
ALPHIE #240, a Cardigan Welsh Corgi/Beagle X, 12-18 m/o, 39#, Male was picked up by driver Kathy Y near Marshall Junction, MO, from Sonja H and delivered to his new "Dad" David W and his three boys in Grand Forks, ND.
Kathy reports Alphie was a sweet dog who just wanted to be held and loved. Which is no wonder considering it is believed he was used as a bait dog. One ear was two-thirds gone and he had scars all over his body. He won't have that problem with his new forever home.

ANGEL #264 *
#264 ANGEL (Terrier Mix) East Sparta, OH - Fords, NJ *
Angel #264 a 10 month old, 25#, female Terrier Mix was picked up from Akron, OH, by driver Chris C. Chris reported Angel was very sweet and took to him fast even though Chris had his own 2 year old, 135# Chocolate Lab, Sampson, on board his truck. Chris managed to give attention to both and Angel with no problems.
Angel was caught eating Sampson's big bowl of Puppy Chow. Sampson never said anything cause he knew there was more to come later. But, it never stopped there. Chris, doing a thirty-four hour restart in Milton, PA, had both outside and was walking them. Another driver commented to Chris "bet you got your hands full." Chris replied, "Naaa, these two are great walkers and where's your pet driver?" The driver never replied back, making Chris feel better he was walking with two pets and not walking with a bag of fast food.

ASHLEY #271
#271 ASHLEY (Greyhound) Orlando, FL - York, PA
ASHLEY #271, a female, 58#, 2.7 y/o Greyhound suffered a career ending broken toe on her right foot during a race. This type of injury would have called for her to be pts in years past. Now, however, these injured racers are being adopted by loving families. Ashley was picked up in Lakeland, FL taken to Havre de Grace, MD, to meet her new foster. Ashley was an excellent rider, calm, got along great with driver Kathy Y's own pets. She wanted to play, especially when Kathy's poodle wanted to run. So did Ashley. However, Kathy herself just wasn't up to running 40 mph.
At one point on the trip, Kathy began vacuuming her truck and discovered Ashley was terrified of the noise. Kathy talked to her and got Ashley to somewhat accept the noise. Kathy also said Ashley took the whole bed while she was relegated to a corner of her own bunk. Such sacrifices OR drivers do for these pets.
Ashley went to a halfway house and is scheduled to attend a Meet and Greet function May 24-25 to introduce her to potential families.

ALEX DUGGIT #275
#275 ALEX DUGGIT (Dachshund) Bull Head City, AZ - Milton, WV
ALEX DUGGIT #275, a tiny male 2 m/o 4# Dachshund had quite a send off in Bull Head City, AZ. Veterinarian Blynn B, his former owner, took him to the elementary school to meet driver Jonathan S who was meeting with his Trucker Buddy Class on the last day of school.
Apparently, all the commotion caused other classes to be inquisitive and the school principal decided to allow everyone to participate by calling an assembly. Jonathan was able to share with all the students about the Trucker Buddy program and also about Operation Roger.
The shipper, Blynn, and the receiver, Dale, apparently had found each other on-line as former Vietnam vets. Blynn gifted his fellow soldier with Alex Duggit.
After seeing quite a bit of the U.S. on his trip, Alex Duggit was finally delivered to his new Dad near Milton, WV. Seems also Jonathan took quite a liking to this little pup and his breed.
