Success Stories

Operation Roger has had many happy endings from all the transports we have done. If you have a success story to tell us about a pet we have helped, please send an Email to operationroger01@yahoo.com and include a photo-we would love to share it with our visitors!

The latest completed transport stories are found under Information/Success Stories. We will add the update on the pet in red below our story. The stories found here are listed by the latest completed transport number at top. If you know your pets transport number, you may quickly find it in this manner. All of these stories will eventually be segmented into groups of about twenty.

This particular section you are reading now, located under Animals/Success Stories, lists the stories by the pet's transported alphabetical name.  However, within the confines of each letter, the names may not be alphabetical.  Confused? Don't worry.  Scroll around and you will be able to locate your pet eventually.  Sorry, but this is the result of the program, not us. If the pet’s name was changed enroute or at a later date, it will not show under the new name.

If you remember the approximate date of the transport and can't find your pet's story, Email us that information and transport name. We will endeavor to find the story for you.

We are always striving to improve our website. We hope you like what you see.

JACKSON #231 *
JACKSON #231 *

#231 JACKSON (Beagle X) LaPlace, LA - Lakeside, CA JACKSON #231 a 6 m/o 40# male Beagle X has had quite a ride enroute from LaPlace, LA to Lakeside, CA. Jackson's story begins with his rescue in the Louisiana swamps by Marty. We can only assume he was a Katrina victim and had apparently been shunned by a pack of wild dogs when found. Over a period of time. Marty became ill and gave Jackson and his three cats to a friend who in turn surrendered them to a shelter. In stepped Sherrie S of the Riverlands SPCA. Sherrie found a rescue in Lakeside, CA, who would take them in and find them homes. A delay developed when a legal hold was put on the animals and at the same time the San Diego, CA, fires broke out. We held off picking the four up until such time as driver Nancy R learned Jackson was getting stir crazy in the shelter and she decided to take him on board and try to work her way to California. As things often happen in our trucking world, her normal route to California was changed. As time went on, Nancy thought she would adopt Jackson herself. She even took Jackson home to meet the other dogs but that didn't work out too well. Angela S, the rescuer in Lakeside, decided she needed Jackson out there. Nancy reluctantly headed toward California with her charge. In Ontario, she was met by Kathy L, a shuttle driver with us. Both ladies went together south to Temecula to meet with Angela and her fiance, Steve, who had driven up to get Jackson. Nancy says Jackson knew something was up and went right up to Angela as if he knew he was nearly home. Nancy said Jackson loved to sit on her armrest with his left paw on the back of her right shoulder and lay his head on her shoulder and watch the scenery. JUPITER #285

#285 JUPITER (Great Dane) Ft. Worth, TX - Norco, CA JUPITER #285, a male 2-3 y/o Great Dane weighing only 100# had been found wandering the streets of Ft. Worth. Once it was determined he was chipped and the original rescue located, the task of getting him back ensued. Driver Sue W and her granddaughter, Aubrey, went to the shelter to get him. As this was the first time the 15 y/o had helped in a transport, Aubrey was at first taken back by the size of Jupiter. He came up to about her hips, with his large head about to her waist. White he was large in size, he was literally skin and bones, very under weight. However, Jupiter won her over very quickly and they became nearly insepartable. Once he was comfortable in the back seat of the pickup, they hightailed it to Austin where they were to meet with a rescue from San Antonio who would keep him until he could be transported west. While they waited on the other party, Aubrey and Jupiter caused quite a stir among the people who walked along the path which ran along the lake. Aubrey got comments like, "got a saddle?" Jupiter and Aubrey walked in the water along the boat ramp and a couple of time, Aubrey had to grab hold of Jupiter to keep from falling into the lake. Jupiter took everything in stride. Tried as she did, Aubrey couldn't convince her mother to let her keep Jupiter. Operation Roger Driver Sue W pu 6/21/08 del 6/21/08 **************************************************************
