#273 KYLIE ANN (Golden Retriever) & #274 HANNAH M (Shepherd/Labrador) San Bernardino, CA - Columbus, OH KYLIE ANN #273, a female 3 y/o 60# Golden Retriever & HANNAH M #274, a female, 6 y/o 40# Shepherd/Labrador) have quite a story. Briefly, the pets needed moved to their owner, Jennifer T, who had moved to OH, and were being kept by Jennifer's mother, Cynthia. On the day Team Leader Nancy R called Cynthia to ascertain whether or not the health certificates and shot records were available, it was learned she had been hospitalized that morning and the dogs were locked in the bathroom. Nancy went into action. Contacting a rescue in the area, who in turn contacted the authorities, and with the help of a neighborhood boy, were able to rescue these pets and get them into a safe location until Team Leaders Kris & Brandy P could arrange for their Team Members Miles & B.J. F to get there to pick up the duo. This is a rare occasion when we are able to work fast and in an area we do not normally get into...but when the need arises, and we are able to help, we try. #292 KAYLA (Boxer) Plymouth, MA - Las Vegas, NV KAYLA #292 a 65# 8 y/o female was picked up near Boston by Driver Kathy Y. Kayla saw a bit of the country as Kathy made her way across the nation to deliver her in Las Vegas. Kathy report Kayla was very good on the truck and seemed to enjoy the scenery. #313 KELLY (Pek-A-Poo X) Virginia Beach, VA - Gulfport, FL KELLY #313, a 12 yr 25# male Pek-A-Poo X, had been left behind when his elderly owner had to move to another state and couldn’t take him. Instead she left Kelly with Jimmy F who arranged for the woman’s daughter, Larinda, to take him. As the webmaster for Operation Roger, Jimmy knew exactly who to call. Providence was with Kelly in the form of Driver Susan M. Normally, it is very difficult to get any pet moved along the I-95 corridor. This time Susan was in her personal vehicle returning from a vacation. She picked up Kelly in Richmond, VA, after Jimmy drove from Virginia Beach to make the delivery. Kelly joined Buddha whose final destination wasn’t that far from where Kelly would be. We will let Susan tell her story from here. He is a 12 yr old Peek-A-Poo dog. He rode well in my Nissan truck and had no interest in the cat. Once home, I let both Buddha and Kelly run around in my bedroom and bathroom. I put Buddha’s litter box in my bathroom and just let them sleep wherever they felt like sleeping. I fell asleep fast and slept soundly for about 7hours. I then got up, got dressed, loaded up the pets, and drove them in my Nissan pickup truck south to Wildwood, Florida. Where the I-75 meets the Florida Turnpike. I met Larinda and her friend Susie at the GATE Truck Stop that also has a Steak N Shake restaurant. She picked up her family dog Kelly. She had known the dog since he was a pup. Kelly was very happy to see Larinda and excited to get in her car. They also loaded up the 2 boxes of stuff that came with Kelly. Including his favorite polar bear rug/blanket. **************************************************************
