Success Stories
Operation Roger has had many happy endings from all the transports we have done. If you have a success story to tell us about a pet we have helped, please send an Email to operationroger01@yahoo.com and include a photo-we would love to share it with our visitors!
The latest completed transport stories are found under Information/Success Stories. We will add the update on the pet in red below our story. The stories found here are listed by the latest completed transport number at top. If you know your pets transport number, you may quickly find it in this manner. All of these stories will eventually be segmented into groups of about twenty.
This particular section you are reading now, located under Animals/Success Stories, lists the stories by the pet's transported alphabetical name. However, within the confines of each letter, the names may not be alphabetical. Confused? Don't worry. Scroll around and you will be able to locate your pet eventually. Sorry, but this is the result of the program, not us. If the pet’s name was changed enroute or at a later date, it will not show under the new name.
If you remember the approximate date of the transport and can't find your pet's story, Email us that information and transport name. We will endeavor to find the story for you.
We are always striving to improve our website. We hope you like what you see.

LAYLA #119
#119 LAYLA/#120 LUCY (Cocker Spaniels) Little Rock, AR - Austin, TX
LAYLA #119 and LUCY #120, 2 year old, 30 pound, females, both black/white Cocker Spaniels joined driver, Sue W, in Little Rock, AR. Layla, along with her sister, Lucy, were rescued from a kill shelter and were going to their forever home in Austin, TX.
Sue reports Layla and Lucy were a surprise. Expecting to receive two buff colored cockers like she'd seen before, both were beautiful black with white markings quite similar to a border collie.
Stopping a little while later in Prescott, AR, Sue noticed Lucy was lying quite still on the floor, then noticed she was shivering. Sue immediately went back into the bunk. Layla was doing the same thing but laying on the bed. Sue sat down and wrapped her arms around both dogs and just sat with them, talking very calmly until they both stopped shaking.
All they needed was a little TLC and reassurance everything was okay. The trip on to Rockwall was just fine.
These two beautiful ladies were transferred to Anglie, a foster "Mom" for Cocker Spaniels, in Rockwall, TX, who will take them on to their new home in Austin, TX.

#88 LILLY (Terrier X) Ufaula, AL - Columbia, TN
LILLY #88 a 1 1/2-2 y/o, about 20#, Terrier mix was found at a Waffle House in Ufaula, AL, where good hearted employees had been feeding her for more than a week after she showed up there. Operation Roger driver Lewellu G saw her and after determining Lilly was a stray, took her. Lilly very much enjoyed the babywipe bath she received at the hands of Lew who says Lilly was very sweet and loving.
Stepping in to help, Mary Ruth Rogers of Russell Rescue, Columbia, TN, met Lew at a Nashville area truck stop with plans to get her cleaned up, spayed, and a new loving home.

LADY #85
#85 LADY (Aus Shep Terrier) Nashville,TN -Visalia, CA
LADY #85, a lovely Australian Sheperd Terrier mix, 11 y/o, 32#, was picked up in Nashville, TN, by Driver Lizzy C. Lady has had quite an adventure. While on vacation in Nashville, TN, the owner, Michael S, himself a trucker, suffered both a stroke and a heart attack. Before he would allow the EMTs to transport him to a hospital, he made them take down his information for Lady. Somehow in the mix, the information was lost by the EMTs and the motel staff told authorities Lady was a stray although she was left in the room.
Lady was chipped but not registered. In the meantime, Michael had returned to Visalia and despaired of ever seeing Lady again. It took the Nashville pound 3-6 months to located the owner's aunt in Visalia, CA. Once the contact was made a flight was arranged to fly her home, but... at the last minute it was determined to be too hot in the plane and she was once again adrift. That's when we were contacted.
Lizzy's traveling companion, Buddy, and Lady got along fabulously. Both loved their rawhides. Lady harassed Buddy by taking his rawhide if he became lax and didn't guard it. Lizzy met Michael at a rest area just north of Visalia, CA. Lady knew Michael immediately. Lizzy reports Lady's tail couldn't wrag fast enough. Even before Michael could get out of his vehicle, Lady was trying to get into his arms.
One can only imagine what all Lady has thought and dispaired of over the months. But, she is now reunited with her lost loved one. She jumped into the passenger seat and sat there as if to say, "OK, Dad, let's go home." Then, she lavished many kisses on Lizzy.

LOUIE #148, a 9 y/o male MaltiPoo, weighing only 9 pounds was picked up in Little Rock, AR, from Debbie B, as a trucking companion for driver, Sue W.
Louie was rescued from a kill shelter in MS by a friend of AR Southern Dog Rescue and transferred up to AR to Debbie. Debbie just knew this was the dog for her friend, Sue.
It soon became apparent Louie was not well and would not eat...anything for 3-4 days at a time. As soon as she could get home to Joshua, TX, and to her vet, Sue discovered Louie had chronic colitis. Put on medication and a special diet, Louie responded immediately.
Sue reports all her grandchidlren love the little guy, even her 2 y/o grandson would walk him. Although their one year old Chihuahua, Angel, was slightly jealous for awhile, the two got along just fine.
