Welcome to Operation Roger... Truckers Pet Transport!

FOLLOWING ARE THE STORIES OF PETS #611 - #671 - DELIVERED BY OPERATION ROGER DRIVERS IN 2012.  WE ARE PROUD OF THEM ALL.

WE HOPE YOU ENJOY READING. WHEN WE HAVE PICTURES, WE WILL ENDEAVOR TO GET THEM ON HERE. We would also like to ask that if you have photos of any of the transports we have done, please send them along with an e-mail to: operationroger01@yahoo.com . We would love to get them on the following board.

Please tell us the pet's transported name & number, if known, as this is the way we have them recorded. If you don't know the name or number, the month & year the pet reached its new home and the name of the person who submitted the application will help.

Tell us about the photo-who/what/when/where, new name, etc. Give us an update story on the pet. We would really like to get all pets featured with a photo. If you have an updated photo of one already shown, please send it also. Many times someone wants to write about us and include pictures of the pets. They must have a digital camera photo 7 pixels and above. We can accept cell phone pictures for this website.

We are behind in writing the stories, but they will be written eventually.  Sorry for the delay.

#648 TOBY(Mastiff) Springfield, OH - Vancouver, WA

Toby, a 135# underweight male 5 y/o Mastiff was suppose to fly to Oahu after his quarantine to meet his owner Benjamin who is in the Army and restationed to Hawaii. Unfortunately, United switched to a smaller plane would not take the dog. There was not another flight available and they were unable to take him from OH.

The family was able to have him picked up from the airport, however there was nobody who could really care for him. They tried finding ground transport for him as the shelter will not keep him. Benjamin simply cannot afford to pay the fees for other flight options. Toby was reportedly a well seasoned traveler having been to TX to CO, OH and loved the drive!

LOH Sue R drove to Springfield to pick up Toby and took him back home to Walbridge where she kept him for almost two months before we could get a driver who could pick him up.

Driver Sasha T picked up Toby in Toledo and delivered him to Benjamine's aunt Denise O in Vancouver, WA. Enroute, Toby gave Sasha a lot of trouble by having separation anxiety. Once given Benadryl, Toby slept most of the way.

BEANS (New Zealand Bunny) Citrus Heights, CA - East Stroudsburg, PA

Beans, a 2y/o male 8# white rabbit had to be left behind by his owner, Stephanie R, when she had to move to Pennsylvania in a hurry. She had found Beans and another rabbit when they had been dropped off in her neighborhood. After she left him in the care of a foster, the foster could not longer care for him.

Beans was picked up in Sacramento, CA, by driver Ed A on his way to Ohio. Since he wasn't going on to Pennsylvania, LOH Melanie C drove to Dayton to meet Ed. Five days later, she drove from Columbus to Toledo to transfer Beans to drivers Bill&Jenny P.

Bill&Jenny P met Stephanie R near Harrisburg and the reunion was totally worthwhile, according to Jenny. The drivers described Beans as sweet, calm, cool, and very anxious to get out of the cage. Once released, he hopped around on the bunk and then stretched out, ready for his ride.

JUNIOR #630 JUNIOR (Min Pin) Burlington, CO - Vancouver, WA

Junior, a 1.6-2 y/o 15# male found himself in "jail" after his owner, Clayton G, suffered an apparent seizer while paying for his fuel at a truck stop. Clayton himself was taken by ambulance from Burlington, CO, to a Denver hospital.

A friend of Clayton's had heard about Operation Roger and spent the next week hunting down our phone number. During this time Clayton was worried about his pet and Junior was probably wondering "What did I do to wind up in this place?"

Once we had the application, we sent out the information via a text to all of our drivers. Denver based team drivers Mike and Cindy G responded immediately. We had to jump through hoops to get a release from Clayton faxed to the Burlington PD accomplished within two days. These drivers went out of their way big time to help one of their own. Cindy drove the 3 hours to get Junior.

Junior reportedly was very difficult to get into the crate so Cindy could put him into her car. But, once Junior got on their truck, he knew he was safe and sound, despite the weird looks he kept getting from their two traveling companion cats, Vato and Tossie. This dynamic duo weren't too happy with Junior being on board but were nice about it. Once he got off, however, they quickly sniffed out the crate to satisfy themselves he was gone!

Clayton met them at the Jubitz Truck Stop in Portland. According to Cindy, Junior went ballistic when he saw Clayton. It was an emotional reunion between man and dog. Also with Clayton was his daughter, Kayla, who had only about an hour before picked Clayton up from the bus station. Talk about timing.

LUCKY #629 #629 LUCKY (Lab/Great Dane) Tucson, AZ - Killeen, TX

Lucky, a 2y/o 100# male lab/great dane mix was indeed lucky. Coming out of Tucson, it is normally very hard to get any pet out of there. But, on this day, team drivers Kris & Brandy P were headed his direction to Texas.

He was at a kill shelter in Tucson and was rescued by Camie C as a service animal for soldiers with PTSD and other injuries.

Below is the drivers story:

Drivers Kris & Brandy P Picked up 4/18/12 and delivered 4/20/12

************************************************************************

This is the story on Lucky, a 2 yr old male Great Dane/Lab mix, Tucson, AZ, to Killeen, TX.
4/19/12 Tucson, AZ, to Oozona, TX.
Brandy and I picked up Lucky from Amy, with The Sanctuary Project, at the Triple T Truck Stop in Tucson, AZ. Lucky is a rescue to rescue transfer. He is going to be trained as a service dog for soldiers with ptsd. Lucky was a death row dog from a shelter.

He was very shy and would coward away when you tried to pet him. I was told he was abused and was a owner give up. Lucky adjusted to the truck okay but was scared for awhile. The only problem we had with him was he had a lot of gas and it was a very stinky ride that day. We drove to Ozona, TX, where we shut down for the night and Lucky slept on a memory foam doggie bed. I had asked him if he wanted to trade beds for the night but he wasn't having it. Lucky traveled 664 miles his 1st day.

4/20 Ozona, TX to San Antonio, TX
Lucky's gas problem was a little bit better and he started to bond with Brandy. He would whine and jump all over the truck when she would get out to get fuel or wash the windshield. We delivered Lucky to his new rescue at the Flying J Truck Stop in San Antonio, TX, to his new family Camie. He was scared and hid behind my legs and slowly warmed up to Camie his new rescue mom. He traveled 211 miles his last day with us.
