#259 GRANDPA/#260 GRANDMA (Shih Tzu/Shih Tzu/Japanese Chin X) New Philadelphia, OH - Candler, FL GRANDPA #259, a 15 y/o 10# male Shih Tzu and GRANDMA, a 13 y/o 7# female Shih Tzu/Japanese Chin X were rescued from a dark trailer at a hoarder where they had spent all their lives. They were taken by rescuers to the home of Operation Roger Secretary Cynthia S for several days for evaluation before heading south to their new home in Candler, FL, at Rainbow Ranch Pet Retirement Home with Heather and Theresa. Two drivers assisted in this transfer, Josh W and his son, Jeremy, who picked them up in Carrollton, OH, kept them a couple nights, then transferred the duo to driver Danny Joe W who delivered them to Heather. Arranged by OR Secretary Cynthia S Operation Roger drivers Josh W pu 3-27-08 and Danny Joe W pu 3-29-08 del 3-31-08 ***** THE FOLLOWING WAS TAKEN FROM THE WEBSITE OF RAINBOW RANCH PET RETIREMENT HOME: The Saga of Sandy Sweetie -- Wednesday April 9th, 2008 Just a few days ago, Operation Roger brought us two precious very senior dogs from a cruelty case closing a puppy mill. The dogs were housed in old camper shells - twenty dogs to a shell. Of these, Rainbow Ranch received a 6 pound Pekingese. We named her Sandy in honor of her rescuer at the Tuscarawas County (Ohio) Humane Society. The other was named Danny for the Operation Roger trucker who brought him all the way from Ohio. Danny is a small 8 pound black and white silky Shih Tzu. MIracles do happen! A long time donor family of the Ranch still grieved for their furbabies who passed away about 5 years ago. Sandy Sweetie Pie met them at the Post Office on the way back from her geriatric physical. Well, you guessed it. Sandy is now named Sandy Sweetie Pie and is the recipient of this family's generosity. They paid 100% of her medical bills incurred in getting her spayed, having her remaining teeth cleaned, her ears treated and her useless leg removed! They fostered her for several days and gave her a taste of what a real family would be like. Hopefully, Sandy will find a real home before she crosses the rainbow. If not, she is very beloved here at the ranch and will sleep with Heather and get as much love as possible. We are still hoping that Danny's new family will appear in the near future. In the meantime, he is loved dearly here and has already made great friends, Taco, Shasta Magic and Rudy! There is so much sadness about animal cruelty and puppy mills but once in a long time, one of these dogs gets her own little miracle - a real family who will love and cherish her for the years she has remaining instead of a cold dark dirty camper shell.
