Success Stories

Operation Roger has had many happy endings from all the transports we have done. If you have a success story to tell us about a pet we have helped, please send an Email to operationroger01@yahoo.com and include a photo-we would love to share it with our visitors!

The latest completed transport stories are found under Information/Success Stories. We will add the update on the pet in red below our story. The stories found here are listed by the latest completed transport number at top. If you know your pets transport number, you may quickly find it in this manner. All of these stories will eventually be segmented into groups of about twenty.

This particular section you are reading now, located under Animals/Success Stories, lists the stories by the pet's transported alphabetical name.  However, within the confines of each letter, the names may not be alphabetical.  Confused? Don't worry.  Scroll around and you will be able to locate your pet eventually.  Sorry, but this is the result of the program, not us. If the pet’s name was changed enroute or at a later date, it will not show under the new name.

If you remember the approximate date of the transport and can't find your pet's story, Email us that information and transport name. We will endeavor to find the story for you.

We are always striving to improve our website. We hope you like what you see.

BUTTERCUP #234 *
BUTTERCUP #234 *

#234 BUTTERCUP (Italian Greyhound) Cape Coral, FL-Clinton, Ontario, Canada * BUTTERCUP #234 a tiny Italian Greyhound, 4#, 3 y/o female was picked up in Fort Meyers, FL, by driver Nancy R from Christa W of the Rocket Angel Italian Greyhound Rescue. Buttercup stayed with Nancy a couple days before being re-powered by driver Danny Joe W in Reddick, GA. Danny Joe sped his small charge up to Detroit, MI, where he met with Buttercup's new "Mom" Dianne T who came over from Canada. This little one was a special needs pet. A rescued breeder dog, she had suffered a broken leg, was fearful and skittish. Danny Joe reported little Buttercup was so scared she stayed in her crate most of the time. Arranged by Christa W Rocket Angel Italian Greyhound Rescue Cape Coral, FL Operation Roger drivers Nancy R pu 12/21/07 - Danny Joe W pu 12/24/07 del 12/25/07 ******************* The following email has been received: Dear Honey: I wish to THANK YOU and trust you had a Blessed Merry Christmas and have a a very Happy and Blessed New Year in 2008!! I must apologize for not contacting you sooner but I've been sick with bronchial pneumonia again so haven't been able to do much. I guess I was outside too much on Christmas Day without proper attire. I wanted to personally and emphatically THANK YOU for all that you did to facilitate the transport of little Buttercup from Cape Coral to me here in Canada. I had quite an adventure after I crossed the Ambassador Bridge at 9:30 p.m. into Detroit. I was my own "comedy of errors" through a misunderstanding on my part in the directions to meet up with Danny-Joe, Bless his heart!! He's such a true Angel!! He stuck with me however through the whole thing (I locked my keys in my car) and I eventually made it home around twenty to six a.m. There was very thick fog that only made it possible to drive 80 kms/hr or less as you couldn't see much past the nose of the car, all the way home. I felt then, and still do, terrible about delaying Danny-Joe his trip home. I volunteered to call his wife and explain that it was my fault that he didn't make it home on Christmas Day, through my own stupidity. He said not to worry about it, that he'd been handling things with his wife for a long time. He'd called me when he was only an hour-and-a-half away from Detroit as he didn't realize how far north I was and that it would take me two to three hours to arrive there. He said at that point that he was tired and didn't plan on travelling the rest of the way home but I still feel totally responsible for everything that happened. I am not normally so scatterbrained but the series of events that started that morning, before I even left my house, I guess, gave me more to deal with than my simple mind could handle. Little Buttercup is fitting in beautifully with my other babies but avoids any direct contact with me. She watches me with my other Italian Greyhound who will be 18 on the 18th of this month and she comes close to sniff my hands and face but won't let me put my hands on her. It's going to take time to win her confidence as I did with my full-sized, ex-racing Greyhound when she first came. I don't want to rush her as I want her to feel that she can trust me, after all the terrible things that she's been through. She's so very beautiful with a dark mask on her muzzle and very dark, deep set eyes with a white mark down the middle of her face between her eyes and four white feet. She's a gorgeous dark tan and the dark mask really accents her face. And she's so little, only eight pounds. She really loves her food though and it motivates her to come close to me. She hasn't missed a meal since she came so I know she's settling in a bit anyway. She sure doesn't like the snow though...she's definitely a sun baby. She stuck her nose outside and went out about 3 steps onto the porch, the first morning she was here but couldn't get back inside quickly enough. As she's walking away, she looked back over her shoulder at me as if to say, "You've got to be kidding lady, if you think for one minute that I'm going out there!!" She actually glared at me. I had to laugh at the look on her face though...it was priceless! I must go as I'm starting to cough but, I just wanted to reiterate and Thank You so very much again for all your work in getting Buttercup to me. The Lord works in mysterious ways and I truly believe that He was sure watching over me during my mishap in that bad part of Detroit, or I'd never have come out unscathed. God Bless You and Yours Honey and if you get the chance, please say another prayer for Christa and all her helpers and the great work they do. Oh yes! and also for Danny-Jo and Nancy Reagan who coordinated the meeting. They really are fantastic people and you must be so pleased to have them as part of your Operation Roger Force. Thank You and God Bless You and Keep You and Make His Face To Shine Upon You and Be Gracious Unto You. Sincerest Best, Dianne & Babies. **************************************************** The following update has been received 11/4/08: Dear Sue, Staff and Drivers: I consider you all friends after the wonderful thing that you did by getting Buttercup from the Rocket Angel Italian Greyhound Rescue in Cape Coral, Florida up to Detroit for me to pick her up on Christmas Day in the evening, last year. It wouldn't have been possible without the extraordinary help of Nancy Regan and Danny Joe. I know you haven't heard from me in a while but I just had to send this to you being the God-fearing wonderful organization that you are. I've told many people about your wonderful group of drivers and at first they don't believe me that there's truly anyone that would do this type of thing in this world of today, but I prove to them that they are so very wrong....Buttercup is living proof!! Again, many, many thanks for what you are doing to help so many of God's creatures to get to their furever homes and out of bad situations. Buttercup is doing well, even though I still can't pick her up but as her personality develops, she's so funny and does such crazy things that I can't help but laugh at her. She's put on weight and looks like a dog now and her coat is nice and shiny. She sure loves her grub...if I need to get her to do anything, all I have to do is use food as an incentive, and suddenly...there she is...amazing eh? Many thank you's again for all that you do. Sincerely and with Much Love, Dianne, Buttercup, Tommy, Pepper and Mariah.
