Success Stories
Operation Roger has had many happy endings from all the transports we have done. If you have a success story to tell us about a pet we have helped, please send an Email to operationroger01@yahoo.com and include a photo-we would love to share it with our visitors!
The latest completed transport stories are found under Information/Success Stories. We will add the update on the pet in red below our story. The stories found here are listed by the latest completed transport number at top. If you know your pets transport number, you may quickly find it in this manner. All of these stories will eventually be segmented into groups of about twenty.
This particular section you are reading now, located under Animals/Success Stories, lists the stories by the pet's transported alphabetical name. However, within the confines of each letter, the names may not be alphabetical. Confused? Don't worry. Scroll around and you will be able to locate your pet eventually. Sorry, but this is the result of the program, not us. If the pet’s name was changed enroute or at a later date, it will not show under the new name.
If you remember the approximate date of the transport and can't find your pet's story, Email us that information and transport name. We will endeavor to find the story for you.
We are always striving to improve our website. We hope you like what you see.

COLBY #241
#241 COLBY (Hound/Healer) Carthage, TX - Tucson, AZ
COLBY #241 is an 8 m/o 40# Male Bluetick Hound/Healer who was rescued by Ginger B of Tuckers Tag Along Rescue from the Irving, TX, kill shelter just before he was to be put to sleep (pts). Transferred to Carthage, TX, to a temporary foster home, Colby didn't do too well there.
Driver Nancy R picked up Colby near Longview, TX, and proceeded on to Fort Worth, TX, where she picked up an older dog, Cinnamon. Then the fun began for Nancy.
So happy not to be caged any longer and to have a playmate, Colby wouldn't leave the older Cinnamon alone. Eventually she had enough of Colby and proceeded to put him in his place. He wouldn't stay out of the garbage, or any number of things he could get into while Nancy was driving. He ate a hole in a night shirt, two tennis balls given to him to play with, and two collapsible dog dishes. One morning Nancy woke to discover her hair, braided into one long braid, was two inches shorter as Colby had chew it off. Laughing, Nancy said at least it was evenly chewed.
While out of the truck, Nancy had left the window open a couple inches for air venting and came back to find Colby had put one paw on the window edge and the other on the automatic window control and his paw was caught. The driver in the next truck was laughing and so was Nancy after she determined he was unhurt. Colby just looked at her as if to say, "well, aren't you going to get me out of this predicament??"
Colby was picked up by his new forever family, Trudi C, in Tucson, AZ. At last report, he is doing much better and learning to be well behaved under the persistent tutoring of Trudi.

CINNAMON #242
#242 CINNAMON (Pit) Mineral Wells, TX - Roseburg, OR
CINNAMON #242, a 2 y/o 40# Female Pit was rescued from the Irving, TX, kill shelter and put into foster care in Mineral Wells, TX .
Driver Nancy R picked up Cinnamon in Fort Worth, TX, from Ginger B of Tuckers Tag Along Rescue where she joined another transport, Colby # 241. The two got along until Colby's puppyness got too overwhelming and Cinnamon put him in his place.
Nancy termed Cinnamon a sweety who only wanted to be loved. Now Cinnamon was headed for Roseburg, OR, but Nancy could only get her to Ripon, CA. Ginger found Krystal M who has developed a phenomenal group of volunteer shuttle drivers around the country. Through Krystal, Cinnamon transferred from an 18-wheeler to a series of 4-wheelers.
We wish to acknowledge the following: Katrina M who picked up Cinnamon in Ripon and delivered her to Heather M in Woodland, CA, who overnighted her. Then it was on to Dusty B in Weed, CA, who in turn transported her on to Grants Pass, OR, to meet her new "Mom" Vicki H who happily took her on home to Roseburg. OR.
Cinnamon was special in that she has had surgery to tumors due to too many shots in too short of a time span...and can expect more tumors.

CHANCE #258
#258 CHANCE (Tibetan Terrier) Allentown, PA - Mendota Heights, MN
CHANCE #258 a 1.5 y/o 25# male Tibetan Terrier began his journey in Bowmanstown, PA. Sandy, the rescuer, brought Chance to driver Debra H in Allentown. Even though Debra knew the receivers were on vacation for another week, she decided to take Chance on board anyway.
She fell in love with the little fella and had nothing but glowing reports to give. Debra couldn't make it all the way up to Mendota Heights. However, she met a driver from Krystal's 4-Wheelers in the Cedar Rapids area. With the help of drivers from Krystal's 4-Wheelers, Chance did make it on home to his new Dad, Tim.

CANTON #303
#303 CANTON (Border Collie) Arlington, TX - Chardon, OH
CANTON #303 a 10 mo 35# female Border Collie’s owner, Brian, has traveled so much lately he felt he could not properly take care of Canton. His mother, Robin, agreed to keep Canton. A couple tries were made to pick up Canton before Team Supervisor Kathy Y arranged for Brian and Canton to meet her in Garland. Repowered a few days later with Steve M in Effingham, IL, Canton was safely delivered near Cambridge, OH, to Robin S who had driven down from Chardon, OH.
Despite having his own bones and toys, which he ignored, Canton instead found pleasure in tearing up some paper plates and towels Steve had on the bed. Much to Steve's displeasure. Kathy said Canton was all black with a small amount of other markings. Canton, said to be a Border Collie mix when Brian saved her from a Dallas kill shelter, walked and held herself like a GSD.

Hi Sue, I wanted to write you an e-mail and thank you again for helping us get Canton to Ohio. She seems to be adjusting well and we starting taking her to obedience classes last night. The only downside is my poor cat has been hiding in the basement since Canton came. I hope he will venture out of there soon. Thanks again Robin S
